Rosh Ha Shana, day of the blowing of the Great Trumpet. This is the time for the Jewish New Year and the time of year that Isaac was bound to the altar by Abraham AND God provided the Lamb. It is also how the Shmita and Jubilee years are counted. Also, traditionally the day when God created man. It is a time of change. It is a time to return. It is a time to examine our lives and turn things over that we are holding unto. It is also a time of judgement that ends in RESTORATION.
Praise God he never disciplines us without restoring us.
Here are scriptures from the Hebrew Bible that are read during this time.
Psalms 118
|
|
5 Out of my straits I called upon the LORD; He answered me with great enlargement.
|
|
6 The LORD is for me; I will not fear; what can man do unto me?
|
|
7 The LORD is for me as my helper; and I shall gaze upon them that hate me.
|
|
8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man.
|
|
9 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes. |
Isaiah 11
| |
{ס}
|
9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain; for
the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters
cover the sea. {S}
|
עַמִּים, אֵלָיו גּוֹיִם יִדְרֹשׁוּ; וְהָיְתָה מְנֻחָתוֹ, כָּבוֹד. {פ}
|
10 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the root of Jesse,
that standeth for an ensign of the peoples, unto him shall the nations
seek; and his resting-place shall be glorious. {P}
|
|
11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord will set
His hand again the second time to recover the remnant of His people,
that shall remain from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and
from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the
islands of the sea.
|
|
12 And He will set up an ensign for the nations, and will
assemble the dispersed of Israel, and gather together the scattered of
Judah from the four corners of the earth.
